Pembrey Peninsular

ButterflyPembrey Peninsula which is a haven for rare insects such as the Marsh Fritillary butterfly and the High Brown Fritillary is a valuable breeding hinter land.  It’s recognised as having a wider diversity of moths, insects and butterflies than any other location in Britain.  It was also a haven for rare and unusual invertebrates.  The forests at Pembrey are so big and dense and in certain parts it’s easy to get lost, even people on horseback can sometimes loose their way which can be scary.  However I firmly believe as I have a kinship with nature and trees that Trees are whispering to us ‘Please protect us and keep that affinity that dense forests need for survival.’

We need to plant 32 trees a second for the next year due to the loss of a billion trees that succumbed to the last winter storm. Pembrey forest could be scheduled for holiday homes i.e. log cabins which would be disastrous!!

Coast Protection

Burry Port has 35 km of critical ordinary water courses the present infrastructure of water is causing great Baby Swan Signets difficulty when there are flash floods.  Back in 1894 when George Bowser was elected as the first Parish councillor.  Mr Bowser along with Mr Thomas Gaunt built Pembrey old harbour in 1819.  Now 112 years later the dilemma is obvious George Bowser fought to keep the rights of way and the preservation of commons.  The old canals around Burry Port are under great threat of being over loaded with Sewerage and other rubbish as sadly the canal is no longer in working condition.  However to have this up and working again would alleviate many problems and there would be wildlife.
